I applied for the HR Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator position and quickly thereafter was contacted for an interview. The interview was pretty low-key with an HR representative and a member of upper management The questions I was asked were pretty standard; "What do you know about Catholic Social Services", "Tell us about yourself", etc. At the end of the interview, I was asked to complete consent forms for them to check my references. I was told my by references that they were in fact contacted. I reached out to the HR representative one week after my interview to see where they were in the hiring process. I was told the position was closed and they would be reaching out by the end of the following week after a decision was made. The end of the week came and went and I never heard a thing. I think it is incredibly unprofessional to not have the courtesy to let applicants know they were not selected. This reminds me to be mindful of common courtesies in the event I am eventually hired for an HR role that involves recruiting. Especially during these uncertain times, people should not be left hanging after a job interview, please be mindful and courteous hiring managers.
