I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Peoria, IL) in May 2022
Interview
Initially engaged by a recruiter and invited to apply. It was a STAR format interview virtually with people who knew the role well and had decent tenure with the company across multiple roles. Good experience overall.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Bengaluru) in Feb 2026
Interview
Not interested in the products that I have worked on. I was asked theoretical questions and not the practical implementations. It was more like the interviewer had decided that he was not interested. The whole process was very unprofessional upto a point where the internal employees were conversing in Telugu when I was right in front of them. Constantly throughout the interview process I was asked some very stupid questions and the interviewer kept telling me "Don't worry, this answer is not gonna be a deciding factor for your selection."
Interviews are conducted using STAR based questions.. This is pretty standard for larger companies. Once you understand the framework, it’s just a matter of relating the questions to your experience.
