There were two interviewers. I was asked about my skills and experience, and reasons for applying to the role. Interview was very much conversational-style, and it was interesting to hear about the tech side of things from the more technical interviewer.
The exec interviewer seemed more concerned with whether I thought cash was better than card payments. They asked why I wanted the role, so I explained several of my reasons, e.g. interest in the industry, keen for management responsibilities, passion for the technology they plan to use, and I mentioned that it was a shorter commute.
I actually believed the interview went ok. They expressed appreciation for the questions I had asked, and one of them said they hoped to speak again soon, shook hands with both.
Feedback consisted of a rejection, noting that they thought I had only applied to the role for a shorter commute. They also remarked that they thought I was arrogant with no further explanation.
Truly a baffling experience. I found the feedback to be unhelpful and a little insulting, considering the effort I made to prepare for the interview and attend in-person.
