I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cash App (Melbourne) in Dec 2024
Interview
The interview process itself was quite straightforward and the recruiter kept me in the loop until the end where I was told the hiring committee could not offer me a role as they didn't have any current openings but they'll let me know if something opens up. What an incredible waste of time for both the company and myself as they probably wasted 12 developer hours across the 6 interviews.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Cash App
Interview
Pretty standard interview process. I fumbled in the interview and didn't expect to get an offer but they completely ghosted me which I think is completely unacceptable for a company to do after doing a full loop.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cash App in Jun 2024
Interview
Interview was at 24/06/2024.
I would say the interview with the CashApp recruiter is the worst interview experience I ever had, and possibly the only one feeling the rudeness. I had only one interview with the recruiter, and the interview process was deeply unsatisfactory.
A bit of background: the team was hiring for a legacy system migration project, and I have significant experience leading a similar project, transitioning a monolithic system to a microservice-based architecture with high concurrent transactions in a distributed manner.
The interview started off poorly, he said "not too bad" to answer my greeting, and he did not introduce himself, nor did he ask me to introduce myself. He jumped straight into asking about my current job and why I was leaving, followed by questions about my cover letter, such as why I was passionate about the opportunity. There was no introduction to the company, the team, or the job itself. When he asked if I had any questions about CashApp, I asked one, which he answered, but he didn't invite me to ask more and seemed eager to end the conversation.
The interview, which was supposed to last 30 minutes, ended 20 minutes early without covering the designed interview process. Two days later, I was told I failed because a few other candidates better matched the role. This was baffling, considering my project experience seemed like a perfect fit for the team and the role. It’s understandable if one or two candidates are a better match, but being told there were several, combined with the recruiter's rude attitude and the rushed interview, was highly disappointing and unprofessional.
Dispite all, if they don't think my experience is a match, they should've rejected me at the resume phase.
