The hiring team went to Bay Area for recruiting software engineers. I was contacted via local recruiter.
Initially I had an in-person interview with Co-founder and VP Engineering in Silicon Valley. I was given an option to choose one of three engineering locations. My preferences was Dubai office for some family reasons. I enjoyed meeting with co-founder and VP engineering, and developed high interest in the company. We also had a little technical discussion/sort of screening interview, where mostly I was asked questions on my previous work and expected to solve one technical question on data structure.
After a week or so, I was contacted by the hiring manager. We talked about the company in-general and the interview process. The manager was very cooperative through out the interview process, and tried the best to adjust the schedules according to my preferences.
In the first step, there was an online coding test, which was composed of three technical questions to be solved in a timespan of 60 minutes. Those questions were on queue, binary tree, and recursion. Better prepare for data structures and practice a couple of question with time constraint.
In the following week, I had two 50-60 minutes technical interviews with engineering team lead(s). I remember one of the questions was about designing and coding a cache and later was asked to enhance it with some more TTL functionalities. I think the focus was on design-thinking pattern and how to approach the problem. The interviewers were helpful and good listeners.
Overall I had a good interview experience. After a few days, I got the offer which I accepted. I was given enough time to relocate to Dubai. I didn’t get a chance, to feel the company culture as my interviews were conducted remotely, so naturally I was a bit confused. Now it has been a month now and I feel, it turned out to be a good decision.
