I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Jan 2017
Interview
First part was a phone interview, where they just asked me typical questions.
Interview took about half the day. Mine started at about 8AM and they took me around campus and showed me all of the facilities. There were about 3 parts of the interview, one was an extremely relaxed lunch with two people, one was lounging with other candidates talking to two other people, one was a typical panel interview of two HR people. The whole interview was pretty relaxed.
Straightforward and not very difficult. Focused a lot on behavioral questions using the STAR method. I think that a good way to prepare for this is to use the STAR method and have several scenarios planned out as the behavioral interview is just back to back scenarios.

Interview
Case interview. No prior emails, no instructions all over phone questions. Asked percentage and other math questions including addition subtraction multiplication and division. Asked questions about certain business scenarios. Nice guy and cool experience.
I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at CarMax in Mar 2018
Interview
Multiple phone calls with different people in different offices, took an online assessment, and was flown in for a super day. Phone calls were just listening, people told me about their jobs, seemed more like a sell. Super day was 4 interviews, a panel case, 2 one-on-one cases, 1 behavioral.
