      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Madison, WI) in Mar 2018

      Interview

The phone interview went well although the interviewer failed to disclose salaries, benefits, etc. I had asked twice. I kept getting told, they will go over that with you at the in person interview… They’re focus seems to be on setting up the in person interview and not answering my questions. Each time they followed up with “are there any questions”, not willing to answer my first questions. So I sped up 40 and store interview, every time that works for me didn’t seem to work for anybody else. What really bothered me was I have a lot of available time early in the morning, yet nobody was able to meet me before 11:00 AM. The day of the interview I showed up early and went to check in, and I asked for the two people that I was to interview with… Neither was there and I was told that one would be in the next couple of hours. Go ahead and have a seat. 20 minutes after my appointment A gentleman comes out with a stack of paperwork, we go back and sit down and he starts handing me things to sign. I said I was here for an interview and no one had told me salary or anything yet. He danced around it again and finally I said “look, I have 12 years plus on auto sales, I know how to sell cases, I also know your company makes a guaranteed amount on every car, what is my commission going to be based on that amount”. He wouldn’t tell me again. I finally asked why there was all of this paperwork, I’m her for an interview. How long will this all take. He told me about 2-3 hours. I then let him know that I had a lunch appointment and I was not going to be able to stay that long I had counted on an hour total. When asking me to come back next week to set it up again 11 o’clock was the only time they had, and then they said they may be able to do 10 AM. Long story short they try to trick me into filling all kinds of paperwork and hire me without telling me what they make what they pay etc. they jacked around they danced around, the process was the worst interview process I’ve ever been through and I still never completed it because of all the BS

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CarMax (Oceanside, CA)

      Interview

I had a disappointing experience with interview process. After submitting an online application, I was contacted by a hiring manager/recruiter who scheduled a 20-minute phone interview for a specific date and time. Unfortunately, no one called at the agreed-upon time, and I did not receive any communication explaining the missed interview or offering to reschedule. A few days later, I received an automated rejection email. The lack of communication and professionalism throughout the process was frustrating. If a company chooses to move forward or not move forward with a candidate, at least a basic courtesy and timely communication is expected.

      Application

      Interview

About a 15-20 minute phone interview. Basic questions like past job experience, are you comfortable with customer service? If they like you, you move on to an in person interview. A scripted interview with one of the sales managers asking open ended questions on why you would be a good candidate, if you have sales experience, & that you understand it is a 100% commission position. You will then complete a sales exercise on the lot, where you complete a brief walkaround of a vehicle & present some obvious features & benefits of the vehicle. If you get passed that, you meet the General Manager where he/she will be the final decision. He asked repetitive questions the sales managers did & then asked specific questions like "Describe a time you sold a product, what was the determining factor that resulted in the customer buying that product?"
