      Devops Engineer Interview

      27 Jan 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Richmond, VA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

The whole process started out with the recruiter emailing me and calling me. Next I had a phone interview with the hiring manager and one of their direct reports. I was then asked to formally apply for the position which included manually copying and pasting my resume into their system and completing a personality assessment (think Myers-Briggs or something similar). A few weeks later, I was called in for a full day interview. The full day interview consisted of: - A math/analysis test, a verbal comprehension test, and a logic test. - 2 separate behavioral interviews with 2 groups of 2 people (e.g "Tell me of a time when you did/encountered/dealt with XYZ issue.") - An informal lunch with the direct report - A background check - A drug test The process started in December and took about a month from initial contact to the decline email. They did not provide a reason for not wanting to make an offer other than that they decided to go with other candidates. AFAIK, there was no reason I should not have gotten an offer. I was disappointed that they decided to waste my day in the full day interview and wish they would have made a decision earlier in the process.

      Question 1

Give an example when you persuaded management to do something they were first reluctant to do. What was the result? (not the exact question, but it was some thing close to this)
