I applied for the business office associate position online, got a call back a few days later from the sales manager suggesting i apply as a sales consultant, so i did. He asked me some basic questions "why carmax" and "tell me about yourself". I was invited to a hotel which they rented out for their interviews, and i was told to bring a printout of a car you like (to sell) and 2 forms of ID (i brought license and Social security card). When you first get there, i had to fill out a paper version of the application, signing background, driving, and drug tests, and verifying everything is correct. Then i had to fill out an online questionnaire that basically consisted of 1 basic drug related question (do you do drugs) and wording it about 50 different ways, kinda a waste of time.
once i finished, a person called my name, and i was brought into a room with the person who did my phone interview, and another guy, and had a standard interview, and was asked to sell the car i printed out. (ask them to testdrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). after that i was asked back to the waiting room, where i waited for round 2 with 2 different people. pretty much the same questions (explain a time a customer was upset, and how did you handle it), then asked back to the waiting room. then the general manager (i think) brought me to the pool area, for the "final interview" (i already had the job), where he explained the pay, and about the company, where i signed the job offer (didn't sign a pay agreement though).
then i did my drugtest, and met the rest of the team.
my advice to you is, if you have to go to the bathroom, hold it in, because they drug test on the spot.
