Disorganized Interview Process, Proceed with Caution.
I had a disappointing experience interviewing with Captions. The process started off promising, but several red flags emerged along the way.
First, the role was changed midway through the interview process with little explanation, signaling a lack of internal clarity. This was reinforced by inconsistent messaging from different interviewers, exposing a broader leadership vacuum.
Despite requiring an onsite visit, the CEO didn’t make time for a 1:1, which felt both disrespectful and telling. If you're going to ask candidates to invest that much time, basic courtesy and executive involvement should be a given.
Lastly, the process included a presentation that felt like free consulting work. There was no clear feedback or follow-up, making it feel transactional and extractive rather than collaborative.
Overall, I’d recommend candidates think carefully before investing time here. The disorganization and lack of respect for candidate time was disappointing.
Advice to Management:
Clarify roles before opening them, ensure leadership alignment, and respect candidates’ time and effort—especially when asking for unpaid work or travel.
