      Software Developer Interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CapTech (Washington, DC) in Oct 2017

      Interview

I applied through university career website and got an email about an on campus interview. The night before the interview, there was a social at a local hotel. It was so fun and a great way to meet current employees of the company to learn more about the business. The first round interview was mostly behavioral with limited conceptual software questions. The interviewers really do a great job putting you at ease. A few days after the first round, I got an email inviting me to a second/final round of interviews at their office in DC. They paid for me to fly in and put me up in a hotel as well as paid for all my meals and transportation. The night before the interview, there was a social event at a local restaurant similar to the first round. This was a blast and the food was great as well. The next morning, there was a brief information session and then I had three 45 minute interviews, 1 technical(typical white boarding data structure questions) and 2 behavioral. CapTech's DC metro office in Reston is really modern and slick. They are looking for a very well rounded candidate, not just someone who can code well. They want to make sure you can communicate effectively with non-technical people when on the job. The following week I got a call with an offer. Pay is really good and benefits are unbeatable, but the people who work for CapTech are what sold me to take the position. Some of the nicest, most business savvy, and technically smart people I have ever met.
