The process includes a portfolio review where I present my work and design thinking, followed by interviews with the hiring manager and a design lead to discuss collaboration, impact, and how I approach complex product problems.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Calibrate (NY) in Jan 2025
Interview
Had an initial phone screen with a recruiter where we went over job history and the rest of the interview process. Next up was a technical interview on coderbytes in react code, had to create a button and search input field to isolate and then repeat searches for specific keys. I went a little slow and the developer felt they needed to lead me, which I thought cost me but they scheduled the next interview anyways. Four more interviews, last of which with the CTO, before they rejected me via email and pointed to the 2nd interview for the reasoning. Claimed to have selected another candidate but the position is still listed on the website almost a month later.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Calibrate (NY) (Saint Paul, MN) in Aug 2024
Interview
I had the first remote call / screening and then was offered a second interview. I sent over times that could work, and then was TOLD, this one, and not asked to make sure that would be a good one.
On the day of, I was sick. I thought I could maybe push through it, but I knew if I wasn't on my game, I wouldn't get the job. The contact said, no problem, hope you feel better! Can you send me times next week to reschedule?
I did.
I got an AUTOMATED EMAIL BACK - a day later - sorry, we are no longer moving forward with your application. No explanation. Last I heard, I was a good candidate.
It's appalling how companies are choosing to treat people these days. I'm a millennial - I've been laid off from other tech start ups. One of them in the MOST DISRESPECTFUL way as well. It's like they don't care about humans struggling, and being challenged.
I'm not impressed.
