I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CSX (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2010
Interview
I first received a call from a CSX recruiter to schedule a phone interview sometime the next week. The phone interview consisted of talking about my current position, why I applied, what I can bring to the position, my skills and background with handling various duties related to the job including injuries, lawsuits, fatalies and investigations. Then it was my turn to ask questions and the recruiter did not have any answers pertaining to the job such as exact location or specific job details, just general answers that weren't helpful at all. The in-person interview consisted of myself and 10 people from their claims department. They only asked about my knowledge of the duties for the position I applied to, how I would handle certain situations and familiarity with investigations, lawsuits settlements and other items pertaining to the specific opening. Overall, the employees were extremely nice and proud of their company. While waiting in the lobby, I had several employees talk with me who were not in anyway connected to the interview and they even offered if I would like a water or a soda pop. The interview was very thorough and intended to identify your weaknesses and strengths, and also if you had fabricated anything just to get an interview.
