      TDA Interview

      5 Oct 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Birmingham, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CGI (Birmingham, England) in Apr 2012

      Interview

Applied for the role via LinkedIn and was invited to an interview about two to three weeks after. I was quite suprised as there was no telephone interview, straight to face-to-face. I was reluctant to go at first as interviews were being held in Birmingham, which is quite a way from where I live. The distance, money I'd have to spend getting there plus a full day out of the office were all reasons why I didn't initially fancy it. I later found out that interview expenses were reimbursable which I thought was a nice touch so decided to attend. I travelled up to the Birmingham office and found a nice office environment with very friendly people. The interview seemed quite informal and I instantly felt at ease. I was interviewed by the hiring manager and one of the senior TDAs, both of whom were very friendly. We had the usual "Tell us about yourself" and "Why do you want to work for Logica" conversations and all the time I was bracing myself for some testing questions around my knowledge of the company history, values, etc. Strangely enough, they never came but I still felt more comfortable knowing that I'd done the revision anyway. I was asked some technical questions but not really any scenario based ones. All in all, it probably lasted around an hour. We finished up and I went on my way, not really having a clue how well/bad I'd done. I was obviously very pleased to be made an offer the following week but for different reasons, split as to whether accept. The thing that swayed me in to joining them was primarily down to the internal recruitment manager who I dealt with throughout. He was exceptionally professional and honest. I can honestly say that it was a joy to deal with a company that put focus on ensuring that they were right for you and not just the other way round. Really made a positive impression on me but appreciate that this was just my own experience with one person from the company. All the same, it made me respect the company that I was about to join.

      Question 1

Reading up on the interview prep material, I was expecting to be put through the ringer with lots of questions around the company's history, values, etc, but they never came. I've been stung by this in the past with a job I went for with Network Rail and vowed never to be caught out like that again. Just goes to show that you never be prepared enough.
