I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at C.K. Tang in Feb 2025
Interview
The interview process is rigid and seems as though it is living in the HR practices of 1990s or earlier.
HR seems inexperienced and asked me to fill in a lengthy redundant interview form, this is required to be filled and sent it first before the interview stage. I was shortlisted for a one round interview with the senior director, from HR/merchandising (?) through zoom. The interviewer said that I will receive an application update in a week's time.
A week after the interview, I reached out to HR for an update on my application. The response provided was that they are still at the reviewing stage and will update asap. After another follow-up, they responded that I will not be selected for the position without a reason.
When I followed-up with HR to ask for a reason, the reason given was that "my experience does not come from the same industry". This left me bewildered and in the first place, why was I shortlisted for an interview if this was a main criteria? This is not efficient and used up not only the opportunity cost of myself, but HR and the interviewer.
If this is the HR interview process, I wonder what kind of internal HR processes they have and their HR practices. I am also curious if the management is aware of such HR processes, which is shocking to say the least.
I take this as a blessing of disguise as this might be one of the underlying issue of the company that might cause a correlation to the business' bottomline.
I applied through university. I interviewed at C.K. Tang (Singapore) in Sept 2021
Interview
My interview was for my internship in Tangs. It was through video call during covid-19 pandemic. I was questioned about my knowledge of the company, the history of the company, and what Tangs has to offer in terms of the brands that they carry in the catalogs.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at C.K. Tang (Singapore) in Feb 2020

The interviews were conducted separately with HR, the Merchandise Manager, and last is the VP for Merchandising. I was asked basic questions about my career path and experience. No tests were conducted.
