I applied for a head marketing role and progressed through interviews and assessments. After the interview stage, communication stopped completely. I followed up, but received no response. I was effectively ghosted after interviews. During my interview with the CEO, it was mentioned that the recruitment process was not clearly defined and that interviews were being used to help clarify the scope and shape of the role. This made the process feel unstructured and exploratory rather than based on a clearly established position. Several months later, a Marketing & Growth Manager role was opened and I applied for it. As part of that application, I was asked to complete the same assessment again, despite having already completed it during the earlier process. I contacted the company to clarify this duplication. Only then did I receive a response, at which point I was informed that the Head of Marketing role had been filled and was invited to apply for the Marketing & Growth Manager role — which I had already applied to. Without this follow-up from my side, I would have received no update at all regarding the earlier process. The response also did not reflect an understanding of my existing application or previously completed assessment, further suggesting confusion around candidate status and process history. Given that the company operates in the HR / recruitment technology space, this experience was particularly disappointing, as one would reasonably expect stronger candidate tracking, clearer communication, and a more structured hiring process.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bryq in Oct 2025
Interview
I interviewed for the Head of Marketing role at Bryq, starting with an HR assessment on their platform (smooth experience), followed by a call with the CEO.
While the CEO was friendly, the interview felt unprepared and unstructured. When I asked about the next steps, he couldn’t say as the process hadn’t been defined yet. It was surprising to see candidates interviewed without clear expectations or a hiring plan.
I also asked about their ICP, product direction, and messaging, but the answers were uncertain as they are still redefining their product and positioning. This made it hard to understand what the role would truly involve.
What stood out most was the lack of follow-up. 2,5 weeks later, I’ve received no update, no feedback, and no response at all. Being ghosted is especially disappointing for a company operating in HR and promoting values around good hiring practices.
Overall, the process lacked structure, clarity, and basic communication. Candidates deserve a clear plan and timely follow-up, especially for a senior role.
