Here’s my story
I was contacted by the recruiter who was very helpful although by the end of my interview I wished I hadn’t wasted my time.
My first call with the recruiter, mentioned my notice period (3 months) might be a problem, later called to say that the hiring manager agreed that ultimately they wanted the right candidate, my noticed period would not be a problem. A Teams call had then been set.
Third call before the interview suggested I was a very strong candidate, rescheduled my call 30 minutes forward?? and booked me in for a discussion with HR 30 minutes after my interview was scheduled to finished.
1. No job description
2. Meeting scheduled with HR department 30 minutes after my teams interview to streamline a second interview
3. Hiring manager was unavailable for my meeting
4. Director arrived 15 minutes late, fortunately the recruiter stuck around for someone to eventually turn up
5. Proceeded to complain about the team I would manage and that state of the maturity of their processes was a huge problem.
6. I gave very solid answers given I had little to go by and prepare for. I was confident of having confident I had addressed each question well and discussed how I could improve the teams maturity levels.
7. I was then asked what my notice period was… again 3 months and that I may have room to negotiate
8. 20 seconds later the interview was finished, 10 minutes later I received an email saying the call with their HR was cancelled citing that notice period was problem.
I feel my time was wasted here, I feel bad for the recruiter and even more so I can understand why their IT team is in such a poor state.
I put this down as a bullet dodged!
