I applied online for the position in December and was invited for an interview in early January. The video interview with a member of the Creative Services team went well, and I was then given a "test project" to complete over the weekend, with the final submission due by the following Tuesday. The project involved a large-scale rebrand of an existing company, including 6-7 mockups of various products such as display pieces. While these types of pieces typically require CAD expertise (which I was assured was not part of the role), I dedicated myself to completing the assignment.
Despite the scope of the project being far beyond what the Product Coordinator role would require, I spent several days diligently working on my presentation, ensuring that it was completed to the best of my abilities and submitted on time.
At the end of the interview, I was informed that the hiring timeline would likely stretch into mid-January. I waited for confirmation that my project had been received but heard nothing. After two weeks, I followed up with the interviewer, reiterating my interest in the position. Over a month and a half later, I still have not heard back.
While I understand that I was ultimately not selected for the role, the lack of communication is disappointing. Given the time and effort I invested in the project, a simple email informing me of the decision would have been appreciated. The silence felt unprofessional, and I am taking this experience as a personal reminder to avoid situations that ask for unpaid work. As a graphic designer, my portfolio reflects my abilities, making a "test project" seem irrelevant. I took the interview process seriously and I expected to be treated with the same respect in return.
