      Recruiter Interview

      4 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Block (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2020

      Interview

The recruiter scheduled a 30 min call that she rescheduled. I was, of course flexible, things happen. However, I could tell from the moment that she got on the line that this was a courtesy call since I was referred. The recruiter had no interest in connecting with me at all and it showed. It became clear that they had already made up their mind about my experience before we even got on the call and not even 24 hours later, the person who referred me to the role got an email that they weren't moving forward. The "interview" if you want to even call it that, consisted of the following: - Tell me about how you got into recruiting? - Great, any questions for me? They didn't talk about the team, the role, the expectations. I tried to dig into the teams this role would support and the challenges being faced. It was like pulling teeth. As a recruiter who would never treat a candidate like this, it baffles me that this is the type of experience being offered. It's even furthermore unfortunate that exceptional recruiters who care about candidates are being screened out by bad recruiters that clearly aren't giving applicants a fair shake. It's not even close to the kind of experience that I'm sure the Recruiting Leadership Team and the company values promote. When I connect with candidates, they get the full rundown of the team, what they are working on and how it supports the business, the role, the challenges, the projects they are working on, how you can drive impact. What a shame.

      Recruiter Interview

      1 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Block (Dublin, Dublin) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Very messy Dealing with a Recruiter in the US that would only tell me interview confirmation times in her time zone. They were unable to tell me how many interviews would be in the process. I had 3 but was told it could be approx 6. Was never given feedback from the final interview had to check their online portal to find out not selected. Very poor candidate experience makes me believe they don't live by the values they preach about during the process. May have dodged a bullet.

      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Block (San Bernardino, CA) in Sept 2021

      Interview

The process was very well thought out and structured. The company did a great job of making me feel valued and it was a welcoming process. They move very quickly and offer negotiation was a pleasure. Answered all of my questions thoroughly. Skye did an amazing job of painting a clear picture of the team and was very open during the interview. There weren't any questions designed to stump you and every interviewer made me feel comfortable even though I get nervous in interviews.

      Application

      Interview

This was the worst interview experience I have ever had. As a recruiter myself I have an understanding of the process and get how busy and hectic things can be however the way they treated me was inexcusable. For starters the recruiter was 7 minutes late to our call and unapologetic about it. She was incredibly low energy and apathetic with no excitement about Square. I could tell she was reading from a script and not even paying attention to my answers. Most of the questions I asked were met with negative and sarcastic responses. Why does this person even work there when they clearly hate it so much? To make matters worst I was rejected even though my qualifications far exceeded the requirements for the role. No feedback provided which seems to be a theme for this place. All in all I was shocked and saddened by my experience.
