I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Barnes & Noble in Aug 2011
Interview
I went in to fill out an application and I happened to ask a manager for one. They were really friendly and helpful, and I ended getting an interview on the spot. Interviewer was polite, friendly, and personable, and asked great relevant questions. Great interview experience.

Question 1
what is a recent book you have read and how would you describe it to someone else if you were going to recommend it?
It was simple, to the point and easy going. Made me feel safe and ready to start my journey at the store. There were moments that I laughed and felt very comfortable when the hiring manager, helped for future interviews and calmed me down in the process.
Got sent email after applying online at the website. What does closing and opening shift look like to you? my interviewer was pretty nice and freindly but be prepared for some unexpected questions

Question 1
What does closing and opening shift look like to you?
Straightforward, no frills interview process. First is a phone interview with very basic questions. Second is an in-person interview with more in-depth questions. They will ask you what you're currently reading, so be prepared to have an answer!
