While I appreciated the opportunity and found the role itself genuinely exciting, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Lack of Transparency: Before committing to the final assessment and interview rounds, I proactively clarified my salary expectations and specifically asked for budget confirmation to ensure we were aligned before investing further time. Despite this, I was taken through the final stages only to receive an offer that fell well short of the expectations I had clearly communicated. This was frustrating and, frankly, avoidable. Negotiation Experience: When I responded to the offer with reasonable, well-reasoned requests for salary expectations and vacation entitlement and a request for clarification on the annual performance review, none of my questions were answered. The response was a brief, blanket email from the hiring manager maintaining the original offer with no engagement on any of the points raised. I found it curt and lacking in basic professional courtesy, particularly given the level of effort I had put into the process. Advice to Candidates: Go in with realistic expectations. The process is long and the assessments are demanding. Even if you ask for budget confirmation upfront, be aware that you may not get a straight answer. Make sure all your requirements are crystal clear before committing to the later stages. Advice to BairesDev: If a candidate takes the initiative to confirm budget alignment before the final rounds, that deserves an honest answer. Proceeding without that clarity, only to make an offer well below stated expectations, wastes everyone's time. A more engaged and respectful response to candidate feedback during negotiations would go a long way in reflecting the culture and values the company promotes.
