I recently went through the full interview process with BNSF Railway for a Software Engineer (Backend) position. After completing all rounds, I received an email that began with “Congratulations” naturally, I was thrilled and grateful to see my hard work paying off.
During the process, I was also informed that the company was ready to sponsor H-1B, which made me even more excited to join and contribute.
However, a few days later, I was told that due to a change in sponsorship policy, they would be unable to proceed with my offer. The official rejection note sounded generic, but after clarification, I learned that it wasn’t about my performance — it was about sponsorship eligibility.
It was disheartening at first, but I’ve learned that such moments teach resilience and reinforce the belief that the right opportunity will align at the right time.
