I applied for this position early October of 2013. I was contacted a few of days later about setting up a phone interview (which was a breeze). Not even 2 days after the phone interview, they called to schedule a group face-to-face interview. This was setup towards the end of October.
The group face-to-face interview went very smooth and they made it clear they wanted to move to the next step, which was a simple assessment. I was told that I would receive this test via email early in the following week.
That next week, I did not hear anything. That Wednesday, I followed up with August Home and received a response that Friday, along with a simple 3 question assessment. I finish the assessment and sent that back before the beginning of the next week. All on pace as normal, right about the end of the 1st week of November.
That's when things really started to break down. I hear nothing from them confirming they received my assessment, so I wait a week to follow up and ask if they received it. They confirm they did, but indicate nothing else.
Two more weeks pass and there is still nothing going on. Follow up with them again (middle of November) to see what the next step is, and I'm informed that they are at a stand still. The IT staff was overloaded with work before Thanksgiving. They told me they would "know more after Thanksgiving."
A weeks after Thanksgiving, August Home HR finally sends me an email that they have decided to continue moving forward with other candidates at this time.
While I respect the decision and understand that not every job is meant to be, I felt that this could've saved us all a TON of time if they would've told me this earlier in the process. A majority of companies usually have a variety of screens they use before they even get to the interview process.
All in all, I felt it was incredibly unprofessional in the way they handled the entire process. Lots of issues with structure and organization that were easy to see the deeper I got involved in the process. Surprisingly, the position I applied and interviewed for is still open.
I probably dodged a bullet, but wanted to put this out there for anyone else considering them as an employer.
