I had an interview for The Digital Marketing position at Aubaine. Frustratingly, I took a whole day off work (unpaid) to prepare for and attend the interview. I travelled up from Kent (2 hour commute) and had been sitting in The Aubaine restaurant for twenty minutes, when, as no one had shown up, I checked to see if I had a text or email to say they were running late, but instead saw an email that had been sent to my personal email address just 2 hours before I had left for the interview to say that they had filled the position that morning and were cancelling the interview. I was extremely disappointed with the way they handled the cancellation, and I do think that it would have been courteous, as they hadn’t got a response to their email, if they had at least texted or called to confirm receipt, given that they were actually cancelling just hours before the interview. It seems that I have had a lucky escape from a very unprofessional department, with individuals who think it is okay cancel an interview just hours before by email, on the off chance that the candidate is checking their personal email all morning in case the interview is cancelled!!
