      Enterprise Advocate Interview

      17 Oct 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Boston, MA) in Aug 2022

      Interview

I debated sharing my experience, but I think people should know the type of company they really are. Straight forward. Was told it would be 3 interviews but only completed one. I thought I had a great conversation with the hiring manager but when asked at the very end of the interview is there was anything new or exciting going on in my life, I made the mistake of sharing that I was expecting my first child. I've been through interview processes in the past and my wife is a recruiter so I'm familiar with how companies communicate and operate which is why this is so disappointing for a company who has "open company, no BS" in their core values. I was told during the interview they were hiring multiple people as there were a few open spots on the team, was given the hiring managers email address unsolicited for follow up and asked the hiring manager point blank if there were any concerns about moving me through the process to which I was told "no". As you can imagine, I was quite surprised the next day to have my follow up / thank you email forwarded back to me within minutes of being sent with a generic response from a recruiter I hadn't spoken to telling me they've decided not to move forward with my application. Furthermore, I had to follow up with that recruiter twice before she replied with no feedback telling me they went with an internal candidate but then she posted the same role on LinkedIn 2 weeks later... Furthermore, I was a referral and my friend who works for the company was never provided any feedback which is totally bizarre and confirms my original suspicions. It's a shame they've chosen to operate this way but at least I learned to never make that mistake again. Interview Format: 1. Hiring Manager - 2. Panel Interview / Sales Exercise 3. VP / Senior Leadership

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Amsterdam) in Jan 2024

      Interview

The first stage is a Recruiter screen, this is then followed by a hiring manager interview, then a culture interview against the company mission points. The final two stages are a team member meet where they assess your role competencies and finally a role play customer call with a discovery and pitch.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (New York, NY) in Aug 2023

      Interview

Pretty standard. 5 Rounds: Reciter Screen => Hiring Manager => Role Play => Culture interview => Another Manager. My recruiter was very responsive and helpful! Atlassian is very transparent about the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Pretty standard sales experience related questions around deal wins, building pipeline, and sales process. There's an emphasis on experience selling to engineering leaders, and a technical product.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (New York, NY) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Reached out to recruiter via LI, scheduled first round. First round screening was standard questions, I appreciated Atlassian's recruiters trying to connect from a candidate perspective, allowed me to feel like I could potentially be a culture fit instead of them just asking questions to check off boxes. Easily built rapport/similar vibes. Second round was with one hiring manager for 30 min and everything went great. Third round was the panel, where you have three back-to-back-to-back interviews. The first is with another hiring manager for 30 min, the second is with a peer for 30 min, and the last one is a "values" interview for 45 minutes with an employee from a different department whether to see you are a "culture fit". This is where my only suggestion for a better interview experience comes in. I thought I did really well for every single panel round, and did especially well with the values interviewer since we coincidentally had similar backgrounds. With both the hiring manager and peer we spent about the first 10/15 min getting to know each and building rapport. However after the final/panel round, I did not get the offer and asked for feedback, the feedback I got was that the second hiring manager pretty much didn't get the answers they wanted to show how I would work with collaboration. From what I remembered, we were hurrying through questions the last 5 min and even went over since the manager was first up in the panel. In my opinion, if the hiring manager or even peer is the most important, why not schedule an hour, or at least 45 minute session? Why give the values interviewer the last slot, someone who doesn't even have a direct management to your potential job, have 15 more minutes and the last slot? I just don't think 30 minutes is enough for someone who could be your boss for years to get to know you, and get through all their questions. They would've gotten way more information out of me if they had the time to ask... Otherwise, everything else was extremely positive. The recruiters kept me in touch all the time, were prompt and responsive, just wish the panel interview format would be slightly different, and importance placed mostly with your potential manager.

Ask day to day activities. How many accounts? How to engage higher levels? Standard, pretty easy questions honestly
