      Customer Advocate Interview

      3 May 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Austin, TX) in Apr 2019

      Interview

I initially received an email from a recruiter at Atlassian asking for availability for a phone screen in regards to my application and resume. This was a very brief, but nice talk with the recruiter discussing my interest in the role and going over my resume. Within a couple of hours I received a follow up email to schedule a time for a phone interview with the team lead. This call was very pleasant and we spoke in more depth about my current role, my qualifications as well as why I wanted to work for Atlassian. Speaking with the team lead reconfirmed my elation for working for the company, learning more about the organization as well as different ways that I could contribute. I received another email shortly after asking to schedule a time for a final interview in person. I met with the manager, two team leads and a senior representative. Everyone was very engaging and congenial, and I left the interview feeling positive. I sent a follow up email to the talent coordinator thanking everyone for their time in meeting with me and further expressed my excitement for the opportunity to join the team. After a week passed with no response, I decided to follow up with the recruiter to check on the status of my interview and the position. Another week went by and I reached out to the recruiter again asking for an update. I still have not heard anything from Atlassian and at this point feel as though I may have dodged a bullet. I find it to be highly inconsiderate and thoughtless to not reach out to a candidate especially after taking time off of work to come in and meet with them. I feel as though this goes against a lot of what their core values are that they so proudly display. I am very turned off in the lack of ownership and communication. I understand that things fall through the cracks, however a “Thanks, but no thanks” email or phone call would have been far more appreciated than the alternative of being ignored.

      Interview

The process began with a phone interview, leading to three in-person interviews. I felt like the team was transparent with me throughout the process. When I was presented with an offer from another organization, I was asked to hold off on accepting, and my manager was able to make an offer that I could easily accept.

The person who conducted the initial interview didn't sound interested and made me feel like he was just doing the interview for compliance purposes. I've only been interviewed once and hopefully it isn't the case for all of their interviewer.
