I 1-click applied on zip recruiter and got a call the next morning for an interview for the following day. i shouldve known from the vague website and such fast interview that something was up, but alas, i cannot read a scam a mile away. but when i walked into the building looking for "HD Management" and only seeing "Ascendance, Inc" in the directory, I knew something was up. and when i walked into the sad, barren, 3-room business suite with 2 other ppl waiting to be interviewed, I knew it was going to be a scam. I waited 30 minutes for my own interview, and in that time I googled ascendance and read the reviews here (but not the interview stories). Honestly if i'd read the interviews I'd have walked out. Not worth the time I spent on eye liner.
Interviewer spent a lot of time talking about her coming to san fran from tennessee and going door to door and how she just moved to long beach 3 weeks ago. I asked her why the door said Ascendance, and she dodged the question. I asked her how old the company was and she completely sidelined into this story of how if she decided to hire me and train me and she could trust me and send me to san bernardino to start another office, i could name it however i wanted, which was an answer in itself. Dodged questions about what specifically they had done to market their product (its basically just door to door and setting up booths) didn't give me specific examples of marketing strategies they had used for previous clients, claimed they worked with fortune 100 and fortune 500 companies and too many clients to go through. when i asked what salary i could expect, she said it would depend on experience. when i pushed for "well based on my resume and the position title and what we've just talked about, what can I expect" and she said they had three pay scales: salaried, hourly, and commissions for the position and it depended on experience. I asked what benefits they had. She said at salaried they offer a heavy discount on health insurance.
honestly, don't waste your time unless you want a good story to tell people. they're going by multiple names, but if i've learned anything, it's if someone calls you for a next day interview, it's a scam. and if you're still hesitant, if the receptionist is just straight up calling ppl for interviews for half an hour, then walk out.
