The interview process with the Office of Student Rights Responsibilities lacked basic professionalism and communication. A staff member got my name wrong in an email prior to the interview, and then I was brought into a panel review that was not mentioned beforehand. The interviewers were unwelcoming, which was surprising for an office that is supposed to specialize in interviewing techniques that help people open up. The environment felt like a cold business rather than a Title IX space.
The interview structure consisted of standard STAR method questions mixed with questions about what I would do in vague investigative scenarios. They also could not explain how these scenarios related to the day-to-day work.
It was an off-putting experience. While I understand different departments operate differently, this experience prevented me from applying for other roles at the university if this is how they run one of their most sensitive offices.
