      Graduate Trainee Interview

      17 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Argus Media (London, England) in Jun 2024

      Interview

Cv screening -> online assessment day -> final interview I did a final interview where I explained how I approached the assessments and got some general questions from interviewers about my experiences. At the end they told me they’d let me know the result by the end of the week or the next Monday at latest. A week passed with no updates. Sent follow up emails and another week passed. Only three weeks later did they text me I wasn’t selected, and they are happy to answer any question from me. So I emailed them asking for feedback, and they never came back….!!! Definitely the most horrible experience in my job search. I’ve also witnessed the same experiences with this company shared on Glassdoor.

      Interview

The first round was CV and cover letter. This was followed by a virtual assessment centre, and finally an in-person interview. The virtual assessment centre was okay and they did a good job of making the work seem exciting. My main complaint is that we were told we had to prepare certain things beforehand which we didn’t need to prepare, so I wasted my time. I was then invited to an in-person interview, but when I got there, one of the interviewers was on the screen using zoom. I therefore spent lots of money and time going to the office unnecessarily, and when I asked for reimbursement, I was aired. The interview itself was not incredibly difficult, but the interviewers (who were senior management) seemed absolutely uninterested. They started late despite not interviewing anyone directly before me. They hadn’t read my CV beforehand. It seemed like they were scoffing at my lack of experience (even though I met the minimum requirements)- what was the point in inviting me all the way to your office for interview then? I understand if my experience isn’t as impressive compared to other applicant, but at least treat me with respect. When I started a conversation about climate change, they made some remarks which I thought were inappropriate and made light of a very serious topic. If I had to say another positive thing, at least the recruitment cycle was very quick. At each stage I heard back after a few days.
