      Global Management Trainee Interview

      27 May 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Brussels
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Anheuser-Busch InBev (Brussels) in Nov 2012

      Interview

First step: online application Second step: a test of approx. 20 questions to assess your personality, really easy to see what answer they expect. Third step: logical reasoning, also quite simple compared to others I have done Fourth step: telephone interview + case. You receive a link to an online platform where you will find a case to solve. 30 minutes later they phone you up to hear your results. The questions aren't that hard, it's just the amount of paperwork that makes it difficult. Make sure you read the questions first and then scan through the document for the answers. My case was 11 pages long and was about the creation of a product portfolio for each season. You receive data from your competitors, production constraints and revenue estimates from all different beers you can choose from. Fifth step: assessment center: first, I had the opportunity to talk to global management trainees, this is not part of the hiring process, so feel free to ask them everything you want. Afterwards I had an interview with two middle managers who asked just regular questions about my career track, my ambitions, my motivation to work ror AB Inbev,... Afterwards there was a business game, where you were divided into mixed groups with people from all over Europe. You position your company into the market, elect a CEO and make production plus marketing decisions. Nothing really difficult, just. Some simple decisions to see how you interact in group and defend your decisions when they're questioned by AB Inbev employees in the room. Sixth and final step: panel interview with 5 students and 5 AB Inbev professionals. The panel will always contain at least one C-level manager. Mine as the Chief Strategy Officer Jo Van Biesbroeck, I heard that 2 years ago Carlos Brito himself participated in these interviews. This is a tough one... They will ask you questions about practically everything. It's not to scare you guys, but everything that you say will be used against you. So think before you say something;-) questions include for example: say you're hired, who would you like to have on your team of the other students and why? Who rather not and why? Overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The people of GTI, the company in charge of the hiring process (you will never hear or see an AB Inbev employee before step 5, which is normal as according to the annual report 150.000 people participate in the interviews and only 150 receive a contract) were always on time, friendly and available for questions throughout the entire process. Although I got excluded in the final round, which was kind of a shock in the beginning, I really learned a lot about myself and about interviews. Two weeks later I landed a job at another company as after this experience every other i terview is really easy. The perfect interview prep!

      Question 2

How would you take care of the top management of a recently acquired company when they refuse to cooperate although it is clear that their current situation doesn't fit within AB Inbev's strategy ?
