I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Analytical Mechanics Associates (Hampton, VA) in Dec 2019
Interview
Did a phone screen with them, but a lot of it involved just getting to know me and having me elaborate the information on my transcript. It lasted a good hour and a half since I also had a lot of questions to get a feel for the company. After passing the phone screen, I was invited to do an onsite interview. It started off with a behavioral interview with HR, and I signed a form to allow background checks. Then we discussed the benefits the company offers. Afterwards, I met the important staff for the specific department I'm applying for to do another interview. I was bracing for a super technical interview, but it was more so them introducing themselves to me and talking about what they are currently doing. Although
the topics of discussion were technical, it wasn't necessarily them probing me to do problem solving type programming problems. It was rather a very pleasant back and forth conversation about technical ongoing projects and what I have done in the past to relate to what they currently do. I felt like my knowledge was challenged more during the phone screen.
Afterwards I was toured the office and met more staff and then we had lunch.
