I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Analog photonics (Boston, MA)
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter working with the company. They told me the CEO wanted to speak to me. I was waiting for something to be set up but the CEO just called me out of nowhere. Then I was supposed to have a 15 mins intro with one of the head of the team. It turned out to be more of a technical quizzing interview. It was very disorganized process.
I applied online. I interviewed at Analog photonics
Interview
The interview went fairly well overall. It was primarily technical, with a focus on whiteboard-style questions covering basic optical principles and diffraction concepts. The interviewer asked a few straightforward questions about geometric optics and light propagation, followed by some discussions on diffraction and interference. There were also a few questions related to fiber optics — such as mode propagation, numerical aperture, and coupling efficiency — to test conceptual understanding rather than deep derivations.

Interview
First round: Team leader called me for 30 min phone call, asking for a background check. Second round: The possible co-worker called me for 30min, asking for some specific skill set about their needs and my project experience.
