I applied for a program administrator role and received an email from HR a week later asking me for my availability for an interview. I met with the hiring manager and was told that due to his hectic travel schedule, he may have me meet with the VP of the department virtually (the VP is in the DC office). He said “typically anyone moving to the next round would meet with both VP and hiring manager.” The interview took place the first week in April 2019. I didn’t hear anything so I reached out the first week in May to HR (never answered) and the hiring manager (he replied a week later stating that he was traveling and said that I was aware of his hectic travel schedule). After that, I decided to forget about it. Then in mid-June, a former colleague reached out to me (I worked for an association that works closely with ANSI) and said “I think you’re going to get a second interview. I got my hopes up and I reached out to the hiring manager again. He called me back a few days later and informed me that have decided to hire someone internally but that they are looking to fill a temporary role (similar to the program administrator role I applied for) but since it will eventually migrate over to finance/accounting, they just need someone in the interim. I was extremely disappointed. I asked if I would need to interview again—he said “yes.” After the nightmare process, I didn’t really want to interview again nor did I think I needed to interview again. I asked when he needed a decision—he said that there’s no rush (this was on a Wednesday). I thought it over and even though I was not happy with the process, I figured that I could interview for it since it was longer temp role (18 months). I called the next day and left a message. No call back. I called on Friday. I didn’t leave a message but I sent him an email. Nothing. Then on Tuesday I received an email stating that they hired someone for the temp role and best of luck to me. Yeah, I am lucky that I didn’t work there. People deserve much better than that.

Applied online- asked to schedule an in-person interview. The initial interview had questions that were a bit strange and personal. After 30 minutes was told that I will receive an email with next steps. Was asked to come in again to meet the team- I was hesitant but decided not to give up fully. I arrived at the interview and met the team which appeared disinterested and unhappy ( my initial impression was set) Overall, the interview was rushed and never received any follow up after that.
