Pros:
The initial stages of the interview process were well-organized and moved swiftly. I had positive conversations with the recruiter, as well as thoughtful interviews with several members of the Total Rewards team. Everyone I spoke to was respectful and knowledgeable, and I appreciated the opportunity to highlight my experience and passion for executive compensation strategy.
Cons:
Despite multiple rounds and what seemed like genuine interest from the team, I was ultimately rejected without a detailed explanation. There were concerns about me being overqualified, which I addressed directly in my interviews, expressing a strong desire to grow within the organization. However, the role was reposted shortly after, and I was never given clear feedback or closure, which made the experience feel ambiguous.
Advice to Management:
Be honest with candidates if there are concerns about qualifications or salary expectations. Candidates appreciate transparency—even a simple, candid explanation goes a long way in maintaining your reputation as a respectful employer. If you’re unsure about a candidate’s fit, consider discussing development potential rather than opting for radio silence or vague rejection.
