      Marketing Operations Analyst Interview

      7 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Morrisville, NC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Align Technology (Morrisville, NC)

      Interview

This was a botched process from the initial step. Very unprofessional recruiter contacted me asking to get something setup for a job they had posted. I replied I was interested so we setup a time. First call was with recruiter. He'd ask questions and I'd give him answers but when it came to salary he immediately stopped and says, "You're way out of range for this job, but there's another one that salary would fit into so I'll keep you moving through with that one." I was somewhat taken aback at his brazen attitude toward it all, but went along with it after he assured me I'd be a fit for that position as well. I then speak with the hiring manger a few days later and was NOT impressed at all. His questions were all over the board and he didn't seem to be on board with the recruiter just handing me over to him as a candidate but still he seemed impressed enough to ask me for an onsite interview. The recruiter then sends me a packet of items to prepare for the interview but NO FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. They obviously assumed I had a working laptop to come in with a presentation to show them what I had figured out from the data they had provided. I did not, but printed out handouts with my findings. Upon arrival, the receptionist had me sit down in their "lobby" which looked like a half renovated seating area looking at a clear glass board room meeting, meeting in progress, so when the recruiter came around the corner I didn't see him coming. He asks, "Are you sure you're ready for the interview???" I nearly left on the spot with his insanely rude question. I said, "YES" and we moved on. He put me into a room and said the meeting would start soon. Only, 18 minutes into the meeting, some other lady shows up and asks if the recruiter had even setup the zoom meeting for my interview, to which I responded, "No...I've just been sitting here waiting for the person to show up. No one told me about a video conference interview." So she finally got me logged in and the VP on the other side already seemed irritated by the situation but not much I could do about the recruiter's incompetence. I fumble my way through the interview because of time delays and not having a laptop to present my data findings (again, never was instructed on exactly what to do) so it was a wasted interview spot. The next person came into the room physically, and we proceeded to have a very pleasant conversation. The next person came in and was obviously NOT accustomed to interviews, and quite possibly not accustomed to speaking with people in general because he was incredibly awkward. It was another wasted interview spot. The next one involved two gentlemen who better explain how things all work at Align, the company culture, the position, etc. They didn't care for the fact I didn't show my presentation via laptop, but I've already explained that point well enough. The last interview spot was with the hiring manager. He was less awkward than he was on the phone, but only marginally. After 20 some minutes of agony, he walked me to the front of the building. All in all, I wouldn't have worked there had they offered me a job because the overall experience was insanely bad. Only one of the individuals there even seemed to care about me as a person at all so I was glad to leave. What stunk was the fact that I had to drive 40 minutes out of my way, one way, DURING MY CURRENT JOB, to waste on that opportunity. Do not recommend at all.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Insanely detailed questions that if I didn't realize were coming with the packet they had given me, as I didn't, I was instantly screwed.
