i was contacted from an executive recruiter through linkedin. when i responded with my interest via email i was responded to very quickly. however, the associate responsible for setting up the preliminary call messed up the dates/times and i had to reconfirm which was kind of a headache as im the candidate here, and this shouldnt be my responsibility. not knit picking, just spilling the details. the official preliminary interview was typical, but forthright. apparently this is/was a family owned company with typical management/business issues. the hiring manager/CEO is "green" and i spoke to the recruiter about that and apparently the recruiter and hiring manager/CEO need a moment of self reflection as this is the CEO first time being CEO and when i brought that up the interview became very defensive. ive been in a site head/VP for many years, on my way to being COO and i can tell you that the fact the interview became defensive and the fact im not moving forward with my obvious knowledge tells me this "new direction" is not going to be successful. just stating facts. i received the typical "boiler plate" rejection email. and judging from my review of the current CEO/hiring managers background the individual was threatened by my expertise, which is a very good indicator of company culture. i would say that the reviews on this companies webpage of "2.0 and 3.0" are the actual reviews and the "4.0 and 5.0s" are written by HR to boost the overall score. in any case, i dodged a bullet as they say.
