Was sent a series of long-form questions to complete, then was scheduled for a 30 min call directly with the CEO (surprising not to get screened by a recruiter first, but I was excited nonetheless). A few weeks later I was scheduled for a 30 min screening call with the junior recruiter (process certainly felt backwards at this point). A few weeks after that, I was scheduled for a 30 mins call with a member of the team (they didn't specify who, or their role, and they weren't on LinkedIn for me to do my own research). This is where it really took a turn - my call was canceled 20 minutes before the start time, and I received a canned rejection response. I was so baffled that I thought it might have been a mistake, but it wasn't. Lot's of scheduling confusion along the way and I had emailed with several different people (I'd offer my availability to one person, a different person would follow up offering times that I'd already communicated wouldn't work) - I chalked it up to them being an early-stage startup, and to be honest, it made me excited to get the role and help smooth some of this out, lots of opportunity! But the cancellation 20 mins before the call and auto-rejection I found to be unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. As a current Chief of Staff, my schedule is very demanding. It's not easy coordinating interviews during business hours when you support Executives and Founders - this company should take more care going forward.
