      Pricing Specialist Interview

      1 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen (Singapore) in Jun 2020

      Interview

TLDR; Apply at your own risk. Applied online for the data analyst position and received an email telling me i was shortlisted. I was also asked if I was also opened to the position of pricing specialist/analyst on top of my current application, to which i said yes. First stage was a one-way video interview for the position of "data analyst" consisting of 4 questions. It was smooth. I spent a few days reading up about the payment industry as it was new to me and i was becoming more interested. 10 days later, I was told i passed and was given a week to do an assignment/ case study. I was also told that the data analyst position was filled. So the assignment given was based on the role pricing specialist, but of course I am opened to doing it. The case study was not easy because it consisted of 8 questions and required you to explain and be able to pitch on the interchange model that adyen have and read in-depth about the various products they are offering. You have to understand how payment works and also do analysis using any software to prove your hypothesis. Also, i prepared a slidedeck of around 40 slides to cover the 8 questions and a lot of time beautifying as I would need to present on it. I prepared with my best, and my anticipation and interest were growing strongly. Submitted the work before the deadline and waited 8 days to receive an email congratulate me for passing the assessment but *they are no longer hiring*. An except of the email: Quote // However we have received lot of interest in the Pricing Data Specialist role and are currently in the later stages of interviews with a few earlier candidates. At this point we have made a collective decision to put a pause on arranging additional interviews. //unquote It was an utter disappointment and very unprofessional of a company to have wasted my time, effort and energy just like that. Adyen is a great fin-tech company but this is a good glimpse of how they treat people below them. I didnt even want to post a review here but to my confusion and shock, i saw on their linkedin, they posted the same job listing just one week ago. I do not understand why they did that even though there are people like me who even made it halfway in the long process already. I'm guessing they might want as many people at their disposal as possible. Initially i thought it wouldnt happen to me because i did see some reviews of people from other countries having negative experiences. I thought the management in SG would be different, at least decent. So yes, apply at your own risk. No matter how impressive a company's tech is, no companies should disregard a job-seeker's dignity like that. It was very unprofessional. My time is important too, Adyen.
