      Data & Policy Analyst Interview

      7 Jul 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Burlingame, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Acumen (Burlingame, CA) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Applied online and Recruiting followed up through email shortly after. Over the course of 3-4 weeks, I had a recruiter screening, coding sample & transcript submission, data exercise, data exercise review with an analyst, logic test and panel interview with four different people. Everyone was friendly, but the data exercise review was awkward. The two people I was scheduled to meet with didn’t show up, and the new interviewer didn’t even introduce herself. She also sounded as though she was reading from a script. Recruiters are relatively responsive, although it took them about three weeks to send me my offer letter. I followed up with them at one point, and they didn’t respond. Logic test is kind of like the GRE quant questions. I question how useful it is to assess candidates. Overall negative experience considering the length of time it took to send me news about the offer + not notifying me about the interviewer change + multiple rounds of assignments/interviews that ended in an offer with such low compensation, which is well below market average in the Bay Area.

      Question 1

      1. Why are you interested in Acumen/health policy? 2. Describe a project you’re particularly proud of.

      Interview

Phone Screen Interview The first round was a phone screening conducted by a recruiter. This conversation focused on my background, relevant experience, and understanding of the role. In-Person Interview The second round was an in-person interview with the hiring manager and potentially a team member. This round went deeper into my technical expertise and practical experience. I was asked to walk through specific projects, explain my decision-making process, and demonstrate how I approach real-world challenges.
