Hello there, it's Laurence (CTO) at accuRx here. Firstly, thanks for taking the time to pen this review and I'm really sorry you didn't have a good experience with us.
Will try to respond to the few different parts you've raised here:
- In terms of looking over your shoulder whilst doing the coding, this is a fair criticism and not something I'd really considered before (whilst remote hasn't been a problem either). We didn't really have a good AV setup in our meeting rooms at the time since we were a small company but for future in person interviews we could definitely broadcast to a screen to avoid this (or at least ask the candidate their preference).
- In terms of my demeanour, I can only apologise if it came across this way. It's normally the case that our VP Engineering leads this part of the interview and I do often watch/stay quieter. I can assure you though that both our VP Eng and I do independent scorecards on interviews before talking and the same is done for the 2nd half of the interview so we would never dismiss someone early (they may get 3 Yes scorecards out of the 4 interviewers).
- For lunch, this may have just been a miscommunication. I don't think lunch was ready at the time and people were going to join for lunch and chat to you in the near future.
I'd be more than happy to chat more over the phone or email to understand the feedback further and so I can chat about it openly with the rest of our engineering leadership team.
