I interviewed at Academic Programs International (Austin, TX)
Interview
I went through three rounds of interviews. The first with an HR representative, the second with my to-be manager, and the third with the head of my department. The first round was virtual, second was in-person, and the third was virtual as well. This was mainly based off the interviewers' geographical locations.
I applied online. I interviewed at Academic Programs International in Jun 2025
Interview
I had a zoom interview with the VP of HR. She was very nice, but some things she said and what I found through research were very concerning.
1) They make you sign a noncompete agreement, so you can't have any side jobs even if you don't do anything remotely close to the same services they provide. So, on top of making you go to the office every day, they handcuff you to the business like a slave.
2) The other thing I found online is that there are multiple nepo babies working for the company along with favoritism. If you're not in the circle, you're probably going to get screwed. I've been places like that before and it doesn't matter how hard you work or are good at your job, if you're not in the circle, it's miserably demoralizing and frustrating.
Take what you will from my comments and be very wary of joining this company.

Question 1
What is your management style and your thoughts on collaboration?
I applied online for the Program Manager position. I was contacted some 2 months later to schedule an interview with one of the hiring managers. The interview was conducted via Zoom.
