I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Abbott (Abbott Park, IL) in Oct 2012
Interview
I had a phone interview and an in person interview. The phone interview was with the manager and the questions were pretty standard. We went over my resume and discussed how my qualifications/experience matched the position. About two weeks later, I was brought into the office for a telepresence interview with the person I spoke to for the phone interview as well as his manager. They talked a lot about the background of the division and the position description. The questions to me were similar to my phone interview--it seemed like the interview was mostly for the benefit of the manager's manager. Later that day, the manager called and offered me the job. I accepted.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were all pretty typical. One question was about how I would communicate with members of the IT department. This was difficult only because I was confused as to how this would be any different than communicating with anyone else.
Multi‑step interview process with recruiter screening, technical and behavioral rounds, and final conversations with leadership. Overall well‑organized, standard pacing, and clear communication throughout. Interview process included initial phone screen, several structured interviews, and follow‑ups with team members. Expectations were clearly explained, though the timeline moved at a moderate pace
Initially rejected and then invited for a screening call when job was reposted. Following this I was scheduled for 1:1 with hiring manager. Video call was scheduled for 1 hour, but ‘interview’ lasted 10 minutes. Was talking through my experience and was interrupted by a “thank you for applying and I wish you all the best.” Total waste of time for all involved.
Initial screening call followed by series of four back to back interviews and a final interview with the DVP. The interviews were a mix of behavioral and technical asks about classes, experiences, why Abbott, understanding how one would go about completing a finance task, goals, etc.
