I applied to a job at “Midtown Art Gallery” online and received a message asking me to come and interview the next morning. I was somewhat apprehensive, but decided to go because the job description looked great for me. I was under the impression that I was interviewing at a contemporary art gallery. I was very confused when I was in a small, messy, unorganized antique store. The interview itself was fine, basic questions about my background. The owner explained a lot of stuff about the rare objects they have which I didn’t care about because I thought I was going to be in a contemporary art gallery. He also kept giving me an iPad and having me read parts of the website? He asked me to stay that same day for a trial shift and I said no. It all seemed very sketchy. I assume they have candidates come for interviews so quickly so they don’t have time to do extensive research on the place, I know if I had a week I would have found out that “Midtown Gallery” is just APR 57 and seen the Glassdoor reviews and cancelled my interview.
