I was contacted by the recruiter the following week after applying. We went over some questions for about 15 minutes or so by phone. I was successful and moved onto the next step which was an in-person interview with the hiring manager and another manager. We went over many different behavioral questions, skills questions, and SAP related questions. I felt there was a good dialogue going back and forth. It was even thrown out there that this position would be filled quickly and that the posting would only be open for the minimum time needed. I think where the interview started to go downhill was when the non-hiring manager asked me what other positions, I would be interested in. It was hard for me to answer, since the only other position open at the time was for Material Planner which was lower that what I was applying for. It ended okay and then they said they were interviewing other people and would be in touch (I have heard that one before).
I was in contact with the recruiter over the next 3 weeks emailing and calling with not much reply. Whenever they did reply, they said I was still in the running and that they were still interviewing candidates. I finally got a concrete response saying that I was not in consideration anymore and they were moving on.
They said I was a strong candidate, but they did not feel like I was right for the position. This was even with the fact I had well over the required experience for SAP and I have been doing planning in the Supply Chain field for over 12 years. However, I guess they know best, not me. I just wished they would have told me from the get-go and not led me on.
