      Brand Manager Interview

      21 Jul 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at A Promotions (Atlanta, GA) in Jul 2021

      Interview

I applied through Handshake as well as through an HR email on their website. Their description said they were working with fashion and cosmetic brands in NYC. The HR department called me and set up a time for a first interview. They sent me a confirmation email and included two "clients" who they are currently working with. The first interview was on Zoom, and there were a couple red flags. The interviewer mentioned the position would be direct marketing and emphasized how easy it was to be promoted. They said you can eventually have your own team working for you, which is what most people in a pyramid scheme say. Later that day, I received an email from one of the "clients", State of Mind NYC, stating that they tried unsuccessfully to meet me for an interview. They also called me and left and left two voicemails trying to meet me for an interview. I was confused as to why the client would be emailing and calling me like that, and I did some research. The number that called me said they were from the "J Mason Group" and it matched the number listed on the bottom of the email from State of Mind NYC. The "client" continues to call me and leave voicemails, and I had to block the number. Glassdoor has shown me though searching "A Promotions", "J Mason Group", and "State of Mind" that these groups are all connected by one person trying to promote and sell their personal products. No matter the job description, the position is the same. It's basically sales. This agency copies and pastes the same job description under multiple titles. They were very eager for a second interview, but after doing some research and reading multiple employee experiences, I find this business to be extremely sketchy.

We pride ourselves on our transparency and are disappointed to hear that we may have fallen short in your circumstance. Not only do we explain what we do on the website and in the job descriptions, but we also explain it in our extensive interview process. We do apologize if something was not clear over all of those steps! This job can be hard, and strenuous, and test your limits, but the people that can handle that see great success. It takes time to adjust and learn, but if you take the right steps, it can definitely be done, and it looks like you've done that. Our associates remain truthful in regards to the details of the job description, pay, etc. We understand that our business model does not fit everyone and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
