I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at 67 Bricks (Reading, England) in Feb 2022
Interview
1st interview was technical but not that much. It was kind of between easy and medium level. They wanted to check whether you are capable of doing the job or level of experience.
2nd was the technical assessment given by them to create a solution and send it back.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
In 1st interview, they asked 3 different questions. 1st one was to dry run the block of code, 2nd was to write a code for the solution and 3rd was also to give a solution and then with the 3rd question they had to expand the problem and multiple questions were asked.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at 67 Bricks (Oxford, England)
Interview
This position had a three stage interview process, starting with a telephone call with Head of Strategy, then two in-person interviews with Head of Strategy, Head of Client Services and Managing Director
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
What would your strategy/approach be for communicating with clients and contacts in academic publishing and technology (our core sectors) on social media?
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at 67 Bricks (Oxford, England) in Jan 2020
Interview
There was a phone interview and a face to face interview. Each was longer than average.
The phone interview was 1hour and 15 mins long. It involved looking at a program involving recursion and suggesting how to improve it and also a live coding challenge writing some code. There was an in depth discussion of your past experience and technologies.
The face to face interview was 2 hours and 30 mins long. Whiteboard exercise involving writing some code related to string search algorithms and discussing your approach. Also a live coding challenge (25 mins) on a PC followed by general discussions about your experience with 2 Developers, Software Manager and HR personnel.
I had a clear expectation of the higher end of the salary range advertised . They came back with a ridiculous offer- way less that what I was making in my current role. In the end, I felt it was a waste of my time and effort. My personal feeling was that they were never going to offer the higher end of the salary regardless of the candidate calibre.
Any future candidate should check and double check with the recruiter and the company during the interview process what they are put forward for to the company, so you do not waste your time and effort only to be disappointed at a later stage.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
During the live code challenge in the face to face interview, the environment is not connected to the internet. This seemed a bit pointless as most programmers live on git repos, stack overflow and developer blogs and don't re-invent the wheel on a daily basis. Also, there was the implication that a working solution would be desirable over a complex design that did not provide the solution at the end of the time period (25 mins)
Thank you for this feedback and we are sorry for your experience. We welcome the chance to review our processes and to make sure this feeling of ‘time and effort wasted’ is never repeated. We take each candidate’s time extremely seriously and have examined our procedures, and those of our recruitment partners, to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Once again, our sincere apologies.
