What is the hiring process like at Uline?

      Pros

Before attending the interview, I researched the company and found multiple reviews mentioning racism in their hiring practices. Even someone currently working there shared similar concerns, but I chose to give the company the benefit of the doubt. However, after going through the interview process, it became evident that those concerns were valid. While they may hire people of color for warehouse or lower-tier roles, it seems they are not considered for positions in customer service or other better departments. It feels as though Uline is not interested in having a diverse team in roles beyond the most basic labor — jobs that others may not want. The lack of inclusivity and fairness was very disappointing.

      Cons

I attended an interview on June 18, 2025, which consisted of two rounds: an aptitude test and a face-to-face interview. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disheartening. The interviewer appeared completely uninterested, and it was clear that my ethnicity played a role in how I was treated. The office lacked any form of diversity; it seemed to be composed entirely of people from one specific background. Despite having strong qualifications and relevant experience, none of that seemed to matter. It felt like being a person of color automatically disqualified me. The entire process was a waste of time and left me with the impression that the organization does not value inclusion or fairness.

Extraordinary training; not just up front, but throughout your career. Countless opportunities to excel, and to be promoted from within. Fair management. Extremely generous perks and bonuses. Job stability. Beautiful, clean, and safe buildings. Fun work environment that is truly team-focused.

      Cons

The interview process can feel intimidating. Uline is who they are because they hire the very best candidates. Bring your A-game when you interview! Dress for success because there is a dress code at Uline once you get hired. Don't expect remote, part-time, or hybrid work; because it is not offered at Uline.

      Awful interview practices/pushing politics

      Pros

Pay is OK, not great. Offer massages on site.

      Cons

Worst interview practices I've ever seen. "Old boys club" environment. Extremely politically conservative and will absolutely push their politics unto their employees. They send out a newsletter pushing far right politics regularly, written by the owner and the owners wife, Liz. Promotions are based solely on how well the managers like you, not on competency. And if you are a liberal, good luck even getting a job here, let alone a promotion. They will absolutely check your social media and if you have anything even remotely liberal on yours they will end the hiring process (I scrubbed mine on the advice of a friend before I applied). They routinely interview applicants 6+ times with no intention of actually hiring them, leading them on for months in order to meet their quotas. They are expert level at wasting fresh out of college young adult time throughout this process. And again, if they get the slightest whiff of you not being Republican, you have zero chance. It's one of the weirdest most cultish work environments I have ever been a part of. You are basically expected to worship the owners and pledge fealty to them for the PRIVILEGE of getting constantly forced for overtime and making barely industry standard pay/benefits. They preach work life balance endlessly but will also leave you as little time as possible with your family, normal work days are very long and routinely go longer than scheduled. Most of the normal workers are very friendly and pleasant to work with, management are disconnected from the realities of regular folks work and are typically promoted based on the "old boys club" environment. Highly recommend not working here, at least not in the office, which is where my experience was. They are a company that claims to are deeply for their employees, but in reality they just want to use you up as much as possible and if you don't fit into their idea of "conservative" you won't get a job or move up at all. Try working at basically any other job before working here, Andersen windows is a great company in the area that is miles better in pay/benefits/work life balance.

At Uline, we believe that everyone has freedom of thought and choice. The political views of the company's owners do not affect business operations or impact our 9,000 employees’ everyday work. All Uline employees have the right to express their political beliefs during their personal time.

Uline sued others for attempting to hire our developers & sabotaged our careers. Even w/ IT bad job market - stay away.

      Pros

For the Middle of nowhere Wisconsin, the pay is decent. But the salaries are on the lower end of the average salaries for software developers in Milwaukee, Chicago and especially the rest of the country

      Cons

As the headline says, they'll try to stop you from leaving by suing your potential employers. Uline culture: - 5 days a week in office, formal wear (men -> ties, women -> skirts even in winter) - Women get dress checked more than men (discriminatory). - Quotas on promotions - HR, IT Executive Admins play favorites by enforcing rules for who they want in IT - HAVE to be clocked in for 9 hours a day -> 45 hour work weeks - PTO days count as 8 hours. For every day you take PTO you have to make up 1 hour. Penalty for taking PTO it seems. (not sure it's legal, certainly unethical) - Lots of politics, especially for an IT and tech departments. You can work really hard and not get a promotion because of this. - Please look at the other reviews for what Uline 'small quirks' are. Uline says if you don't like the 'family', you can leave. But that's also a lie. As you read above, the 'quirks' that Uline has pushed many people to look elsewhere. Another company, let's call it company A, in Winter of 2023 - 2024, took our best developers and more. Company A offered what Uline cannot - Uline (mid-level) software developers were being interviewed & hired for Senior positions at Company A. This could have been preventable if there weren't quotas on promotions, no favoritism and cultural improvements. Instead of Uline using this as opportunity to fix their culture, they decided to sue! Company A had to immediately stop hiring anybody from Uline and sabotaged many careers in IT, preventing them from going to the next step. Besides that, Uline IT executive admin and HR are also a big part of what make it a horrible experience. They have favorites, enforce rules for who they don't like and let it slide for those they do like. If you decide to leave your cube and take a mental break on a couch, IT Executive Admin WILL keep track of that and use it against you, and inform HR or your manager. This include personals calls, conversations outside of the cubes, etc. Want to report them? Uline hates IT and will side with managers, HR, and ITExecutive admin. This is why it's crucial to have individuals of integrity in those positions, which is not the case, especially for IT Executive Admin that sits amongst us.
