      Fantastic Company

      Director, product management
      Former employee
      Washington, DC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great tech, fantastic customers, with a lot of growth potential.

      Cons

Not a lot of career advancement opportunities

      Great product , challenges included

      Sales development representative (sdr)
      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Strong place to start a career in tech sales, especially for those looking to build foundational skills * High-quality product with a compelling value proposition in the market * Sales cycle can be challenging, which helps develop resilience and persistence * Compensation is competitive when hitting or exceeding targets, with solid accelerators beyond quota * Office perks such as meals provided can be a nice benefit

      Cons

Quota attainment can be difficult depending on territory and how targets are set * Internal politics can impact opportunities and recognition * Culture can feel cliquey and inconsistent across teams * Limited upward mobility, with promotions not always aligned to performance * Product is better suited for enterprise, making some segments harder to succeed in * Ongoing enablement and resources can be lacking after initial onboarding * Frequent changes and turnover can create instability

Micromanaged hybrid policy, weak training, and overlooked departments

      Customer success manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

There are a lot of incredibly smart and driven people at Tanium. The company tackles interesting problems in cybersecurity, and when you're able to focus, the work can be rewarding. Compensation is decent, and you get free lunch in the office. The hybrid work policy sounds flexible—at first.

      Cons

Unfortunately, much of what you're sold during the interview process doesn’t hold up. I was told that as long as I was meeting expectations and attending mandatory in-person meetings, there was no strict requirement to be in the office a certain number of days each week. That promise was quietly reversed—since February, employees have been expected to badge in at least twice a week, and leadership is now threatening to withhold stock refreshes from those who don’t comply, regardless of performance. The in-office experience isn’t great either: limited quiet spaces, harsh fluorescent lighting, low-quality monitors, and a general environment that’s not very conducive to focus. The free lunch is appreciated, but it’s not anything to get excited about. Overall, I get more done at home without the distractions. Training also leaves a lot to be desired—especially for new hires who are expected to ramp up quickly without sufficient support. Additionally, Customer Success is often treated as an afterthought. We’re excluded from major events like SKO and Converge (hosted at Universal Studios with customers), and not eligible for the Sales Club trip. It’s clear that Sales is prioritized, and other departments don’t get the same recognition or investment.

Relatively Easy compared to other Tech Support

      Associate technical support engineer
      Current employee
      Kraków
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The salary is very high compared to other same-level jobs, and the work is not that hard if you have the above-average understanding of IT. Since the product is not a critical network element that could cause customers lose money, it is not as stressed.

      Cons

The management has problems with communicating in general. There are not many career growth opportunities in Support, but that might not be a bad thing considering the size of the company.

Smart, collaborative teams with real opportunity to make an impact

      Marketing manager
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Tanium has a genuinely strong company culture built on collaboration and trust. Teams work closely together, and there’s a real sense of joint ownership when it comes to driving results. I worked alongside smart, capable, and trustworthy people who care deeply about doing great work. Lots of meaningful opportunities to make an impact, own projects end to end, and help drive strong outcomes for the business. The environment encourages learning, problem-solving, and teamwork, which made my time here both challenging and rewarding.

      Cons

Career progression can be unclear, with limited guidance on growth paths or next steps. Leadership support and direction can sometimes feel inconsistent, which may leave teams without the clarity or structure needed to grow effectively. At times, there’s also a lack of hands-on support or strategic direction, which can make navigating priorities more difficult.

A little chaotic, but nonetheless good

      Territory sales manager
      Former employee
      Hamburg
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Tanium actually feels like a place you can be great at. The company has great values and a flat hierarchy. It genuinely feels like they care about you and your success. There is a clear path in career development for every role. They live diversity and inclusion.

      Cons

Unfortunately selling the software is quite difficult. The product is great, but you need to license your whole organisation, so entry prices are high (like everywhere in IT Security really) With no Gartner magic Quadrant listing it’s almost impossible to get anyone to risk being an early starter.

      Great so far

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Durham, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Initial pay and benefits is great. Hybrid office schedule is really nice. The office I work out of is in a great location. Culture is great so far. There's a collaborative spirit here when it comes to the Engineering/IT side of the company. Lots of opportunities for volunteer work. Company seems to believe in investing in employees as a way to improve the overall company.

      Cons

Remote work seems to be on the out, so if that's something you're looking for, this might not be the company for you.

Great company with limited growth opportunities

      Head of corporate sales
      Former employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great company to work for huge learning curve when you start and amazing people to work with.

      Cons

Growth is limited because older generation is not moving.

Great Company, People, Product, and Employment Experience

      Engineering manager
      Current employee
      Durham, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Tanium offers a great opportunity to work with some of the best on a platform/product that the industry loves. Compensation is very competitive, and there is room to grow in your career. The work / life balance has been great in my experience as well.

      Cons

The intensity of the work is thrilling, but not for everyone.
