Pros
The job is very fun. The discounts you get are great. Generally a very chill job but I'll get to that in a second. Overall? Not bad & that is a lot better than most jobs I've worked.
Cons
I have worked a handful of opening shifts in my entire year working @ SGH even though I have asked for more hours, asked for different shifts, etc so that I can actually make my sales goals throughout the week. Regional manager never replies to messages, HR portal sucks. My customer reviews are fantastic & I know I'm truly good at my job, but my manager has his behind to the fire & of course that means my life has to be much harder & he spreads rumors about me hoping I'll just put in my two weeks & quit because he can't actually fire me. I get four hour shifts in a mall with 2 other Sunglass Hut stores & even when I make great sales throughout the week I never get commission because my manager simply takes all of the opening shifts for himself throughout the week & nobody besides the other person he schedules for 3-4 opening shifts a week makes their goal. He basically tells me to figure it out on my own how to make sales happen... selling sunglasses at night...
I'm not kidding -- my manager & his favorite employee lie about me. :/
I pretty much only ever work alone too so I never get feedback on how I can adapt however they want me to. It's a mess & honestly very stressful & makes me feel insecure.
I haven't worked at other locations so I couldn't say how the experience is elsewhere, but I imagine making sales happen is a lot easier -- ESPECIALLY when you're not competing with two other locations inside the SAME EXACT MALL. A lot of times I don't even have the stuff people want even if they were willing to spend $400 on sunglasses right then & there, a lot of times because it's Vegas they're not even from town.
Overall the job in a vacuum isn't that bad, but if you're not your manager's favorite then this job just sucks & doesn't pay. I'm making fast food wages basically.
