What is the hiring process like at SolarWinds?

      Zero career prospects at Solarwinds

      Pros

Some of the lower ranks are great and unfortunately not respected or given the opportunity to progress, so many great people have lefts it's such a shame.

      Cons

Aside from the famous hack it's become more apparent that the main cause of below par performance and low morale for the last 3yrs is derived from CCO Andrea Webb who lacks the talent needed to bring the last few years of turbulence to a settled environment, the constant HC cuts are at ridiculous levels. If you have a different view on any business decisions then keep your mouth shut otherwise you'll be gone seems to be the motto. Most of the new jobs advertised lately are already sewn up for friends of the hiring manager and leadership.

      Pros

It's an ideal environment for certain individuals who are either part of the new leadership's inner circle or are employed in departments less influenced by the new management, such as finance, product development, IT, HR, and others.

      Cons

The company is on a precarious path, rife with costly mistakes: • Numerous poor decisions have led to significant financial losses. • Recruitment often favors personal connections over genuine skill and merit. • Valuable employees have been dismissed, despite their qualifications. • Individual agendas are taking precedence over the company's welfare.

      Cons

      - Personal ties are frequently prioritized over actual talent and merit - especially in internal hiring. HR & recruiters are not honest and unclear about so many processes. - This office has an absolute capacity to degrade your mental health - Very superficial people are creating a rotten work culture. - Extreme-level politics are not to your face, but they exist very much. - poor manager (worst), no accountability, and no support. 'figure it out' pathetic attitude. - Marketing is filled with broken processes. I could not believe such a big company is operating/functioning like a 2-year-old business. - Favoritism - irrespective of you being good at your job. You must socialize and become a favorite to stay here. - It is bad for personal growth as only favorite people will climb the ladder.

Enjoyable Place to Work with Room for Improvement in Growth and Compensation

      Pros

Amazing office space in Charlotte with a strong emphasis on work-life balance. There are plenty of social events and networking opportunities that help employees stay engaged and build relationships across different business units. The recent IT reorganization has created a unique opportunity to participate in system and process design initiatives. While this level of change and transformation may not appeal to everyone, it offers valuable experience for those who enjoy shaping new processes and driving organizational improvements. I am optimistic about the direction of the organization and confident in the vision and leadership of the new IT management team.

      Cons

Career advancement opportunities can sometimes feel limited within a satellite office environment, and promotion paths are not always clearly defined. Employees seeking long-term growth may benefit from having proactive career development conversations with leadership. The recent IT reorganization has introduced a period of transition, resulting in some uncertainty and lower morale across parts of the organization. The department is currently in a rebuilding phase, and new employees should expect to contribute to the implementation of new processes, systems, and ways of working. Compensation appears to be somewhat below market rates for certain roles, which may be a consideration for candidates prioritizing salary growth.

      Pros

SolarWinds has a strong culture of collaboration and innovation. The people here are genuinely smart, approachable, and always willing to help. Leadership has been increasingly transparent, and cross-functional collaboration is encouraged. There’s a real focus on customer success and building reliable, high-quality products.

      Cons

Like any fast-moving tech company, priorities can shift quickly. Sometimes deadlines feel tight, and cross-team coordination can get challenging when new initiatives are rolled out.

      Pros

I have worked at SolarWinds for over 10 years and have had many opportunities to learn new areas and expand my skill set. The hard work has paid off, as I have advanced into new positions in my department over the years. The company continues to invest in my growth, which is a huge reason I have stayed here as long as I have. Another reason I stay is the people I work with. There are so many talented and extraordinarily nice people throughout the organization who make the day-to-day wonderful. SolarWinds has overcome some difficult challenges over the last few years (as many businesses do), but I honestly think the progress we have made is really starting to pay off. I'm inspired by many of the recent organizational updates and I'm optimistic about the future at SolarWinds.

      Cons

Food catering used to happen twice a week in Austin, but it only happens once a week now. However, I guess it makes sense given that employees aren't in the office five days a week like they used to be. Process updates are a focus for the company in 2024. While these are welcomed changes, building and adopting new processes does take additional effort by the employees.
